They asked me questions about what kind of job i am looking for, and i replied i am not looking for a job then they asked how they could help me and i said i don't want their help. i told them about how my experience with job agencies is that it's a waste of time and how i'm just hear to sign their papers so i could continue to get my unemployment money. This went on for a bit then eventually they sort of gave up and i was able to sign the paper and just get out of there. I'm not used to making a scene and raising my voice but i'm not sorry that i did. I have been waiting to express my frustration for quite some time.

TeeHee -- GOOD FOR YOU!! You're right -- those agencies ARE a royal waste of time, and every one I've been to has been a joke!

You've got more guts than I'd ever have! I'm PROUD of you. FINALLY someone said what we've all felt. Hurray!

I would recommend getting on disability if looking for a job is impossible for you. I am not sure where you live but if you draw unemployment you need to be capable of working and be looking for a job in the USA. That way you won't be so upset when you are asked to do something you say you cannot do.

Usually to be able to collect unemployment you much actively be looking for a job & prove that you have at least sent out a couple of job resume's each week during the time you are collecting unemployment....it's just the hoops that have to be jumped through to get the unemployment. It specifically states that's it's only for people who are unemployed & actively looking for employment......whether we like those rules or not.

Amazonmom is right....if you are unable to work.....then you need to be filing for disability. That would NOW be the appropriate agency for you to be collecting your money from.

I have had friends who have gone through the same frustrations you have when working was then impossible......I understand your frustrations.....but also understand the rules & regulations of the agencies this giant of a government has crazily created in order to help those who can no longer support themselves.

You can fill out the paperwork....but the problem is if you don't provide the information they require, you might not get the check anyway.

Why are you at the employment office telling them you aren't looking for a job? It's not polite to tell workers that their service is a waste of time to you. It's actually a pretty negative stereotype you're perpetuating if you're going to get angry over possible employment while insisting you receive unemployment.

Unemployment benefits are finite in length and meant to hold you over while you find more employment. You will either need to find a new job or file for disability if you plan not to return to work.

Should probably clarify that my unemployment payments are indefinite and i am not required to look for work to receive them.

But you're right, it wasn't a polite thing to say and I did hit upon a stereotype of unemloyed people.

Thanks for this!

Never heard of indefinitely unemployment payments.......wow, how do you rate something that no one else seems to be able to have. Was it a special unemployment insurance that you had or something......really curious & I'm sure that other's who are unemployed will be very curious also.

Right now, they extended it to 2 years.....guess that does feel indefinite if you believe they will keep extending it.http://www.darwinsmoney.com/2-years-...ent-insurance/

I live in Australia, but yes, it goes forever. I've already been on it for almost 2 years.

Ah, I knew that didn't make any sense for the US.
