I'm super worried about finances, as usual. I just don't know how I'm going to afford all my bills. I really hope I can my new insurance career to work for me. But being that it's 100% commission and I suck at sales, well it's grim to say the least. I'm currently working temp at a bank, it's ironic really.

I thought of calling them and quitting my full-time gig to focus on my commission job but I don't know how that will go over with SS. As it goes my insurances I'll have to pay out of pocket and they're raising the price but $30 a month, which doesn't seem like a lot but in addition to not have the Medicare withheld it's $150 mo. and I'm already scraping by.

My head is just spinning. I'm so broke no matter how much money I have I just spend too much really. But most of what I spend it on is essentials and I don't know how to cut costs. Especially when I'm trying to build a new career, which is a money pit at this moment.

I so need a financial adviser, but that's again money.

Aviza, my son is an insurance broker with his own agency now and he belongs to a businessmen's breakfast club. They meet together once a week and share contacts, ideas, etc. I know they have such clubs for both genders. He's been part of the club since he was just selling too, 10-15 years.

I'd look around for such a club or contact other insurance people in the area, especially those who work alone/at home if I could and start one for some good support. But having a club with business people selling all different sorts of things is great for ideas; what works in car sales might be a good idea for insurance sales.

Do you know about Zig Ziglar and his books? http://www.ziglar.com/shop/index.php/cPath/21 I love reading his and other such books (I notice he has others on this list; I'd go to the library first, they'll have his older books) and I'm not even in sales :-)

I don't know how SSD would see such a job. But I suspect that if they think you can work a job like that, then they think you won't need SSD--even if you don't make any money. Sigh. But maybe with the suggestions here, you can perform well enough to make that money unnecessary.

My husband and I are getting more and more forms to fill out each year to justify our being on it. I work a very minimal job--make about $350 a year. Ha!

Good luck w all this, Payne, have struggled w it, still struggle, the very best! Hang in there! Unfortunately, u r not alone, but I know that's not much comfort. Guess just try to be as smart and thrifty as you can, as you r doing, and enjoy the small things in life. And try not to worry. Easier said than done, I know. Take care, Ann

Thanks for caring about me, Anne. All sympathy accepted. But, yes, I was making my "poor me" remarks in response to Aviza!
