I originally applied in November of 2011. But I got denied. I went thru the whole process of requesting a reconsideration and all that, and I kept getting denied. Finally, in June of last year (2012) I went to see a lawyer. He said it would take at least 8 to 12 months before we could get a court date, and it's barely been 8 months since I talked to him. But it feels like longer because of trying to do it on my own before that. Altogether, it's been a total of 15 months if you count from when I first applied.

Two years & four month for a decision.
Was denied twice & then had to go before judge for a hearing.
Did it all without a lawyer. The hassle is worth it.
Will admit tho, I didn't think I'd get it. Surprise.:-)

Don't give up, things will work out, just not very fast.
Wish you the best of luck.

I'm appalled by how long it is taking for people to get disability.

In my eyes, years is a complete failure of the system.
