Ok more specifically, I'm thinking about getting debit cards for my kids, so that I can easily give them their allowances electronically and they can use their money anywhere. I found something called Visa buxx for kids & teens online. Anyone had any experience with this?

We just use a pre-paid walmart visa card.

The "experts" suggest a regular bank account/debit card, not prepaid; I would talk to your local bank, they seem to have several programs now for kids:
