How much does your insurance company cover for therapy sessions. Mine will only cover 45 min once a week now. I feel like by the time i relax enough to get any work done he has to cut me off because time is up. Insurance says since I have not self harmed in a few weeks along with diminished bulimic activities i no longer meet criteria for extended sessions. They also said since i am using my coping techniques when I feel suicidal i am safe. I need pointers on how to appeal this. It has barely been a month since I feel some relief. Need advice.

Looking for safety, protection, being cherished and loved can often be normal unmet needs in childhood, and the survivor searches for these in other adults. This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors.

Have your therapist do the talking. I've never dealt directly with my insurance about this kind of thing. They speak directly to my therapist who advocates for me and there has never been a time that they have gone against his expert opinion about my case.

I would maybe ask my therapist, too, about reduced/sliding scale for additional time I wanted and come up with a plan with him for how long he thought such a thing would be useful and why you want more time, work with him on what can be done? Have you discussed with your therapist the reduction in time and how does he feel about it in your case?
