So SSI contacted me yesterday and asked me questions about income, accounts etc. etc. The lady told me they were going to get my medical records and such and in about 90 days I will find out. Im so nervous. What if I didn't fill it our good enough? I have LOTS of medical records that I have had to get myself simply because I didn't remember Dr names, dates etc.
I just wonder what my odds are. |

Try not to worry about things too much. Social Security contacted me as well, before approving my case, letting me know that the "board group" needed a few extra things from me. They wanted as much clear and complete info as they could get before reviewing my case.
I do recall the woman being very kind and reassuring, as I asked her Q's too! __________________ "Only in the darkness can you see the stars." - Martin Luther King Jr. "Forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness but because you deserve peace." - Author Unkown |

At worst you will be denied and have to appeal, and from what I understand most people win when they appeal...likewise its very common to be denied when you first apply. It is hard to say what your individual odds are...but all I can say is try and be as patient as you can, though its easier said than done because at least for me the process has been very slow and stressful.
Also they can look at your medical records and dig them up, I don't think it depends on you having to remember all the doctors I think they can look that stuff up it just makes things go smooother if you give them all the records/doctors names and such you can think of. |

things may have changed since i applied 22 yrs ago, but i was denied the first time, and i gave them all the medical records from off of my pill bottles~! :O
if you have to appeal, DO be prompt,, they mean it when they say 30 days~! i was told to use the reason for appeal as: Condition has Worsened. any additional records you need to gather to support that reason can be sent later. it's the Appeal Form that must get back to them on time~ good luck, i hope that them not asking for any additional records is a good sign, and your wait is nearly over~! Best wishes~ Gus __________________ AWAKEN~! |

(the lawyer, who is rarely actually needed to compile medical records, gets 25%, per civil regulation, they used to charge 30% or more.)
there are disability advocate agencies in most larger cities who help with the wording on an application or appeal. it's common language, there are no hidden "laws" ,, all the regulations are available online to the public. making sense of them might be difficult for those without the necessary vocabulary or reading skills, or concentration, for whatever reason. but lawyers are feeding off of people's distress , again , in my opinion~! __________________ AWAKEN~! |

Yeah you may need to get an attorney like a previous post said. Don't worry though. A lot of folks don't win on the 1st shot BUT ALWAYS FOLLOW UP ON TIME! !!!!!!! DON'T DELAY! Best of luck to you!
