Hello To All,
![]() ![]() Now I am about to go to a physical and psychological evaluations for both Medicaid and SSI. I go on a Saturday, which I thought was kind of strange. I confirmed the appt. like they asked both by phone and in writing. I am quite nervous for this appointment. As my health varies from day to day. But for me the worse thing is that I can not see a therapist or get any counseling services. I have called every organization possible and the best I could find was a sliding scale wanting $20 for each visit. Now I just want to know what to expect, and maybe a hug or two for luck. The exam is this Saturday. If you have been through this, please let me know is there a right or wrong way to go to this appointment. I feel so out of sorts as I have anxiety and panic attacks as well as depression due to my many health issues. That's it in a nutshell. Got any advice for this poor old lady about to embark on a somewhat tedious situation. Thanks for reading. ![]() ![]() |

We went thru that with our son. It took several years. Get all of the hard copy you can of
verification from mental evaluations by professionals. For us we had to go before a judge and he wanted tangible documents just like an attorney would have to present. If you have seen a doctor for physical conditions also try to get that dx and disability opinion in hard copy. Don't give up you will get it eventually. After several years from our first appeal my son got 5 or 6 K back payment retroactively. There are attorneys that deal with this kind of services and will get it done sooner for part of the settlement as their fee. My son's psychiatrist got on the phone with the judge during one of the latter hearings and with the right papers it cinched the deal. You can do this yourself, good luck.

Ok, the evaluation was a big joke. And I have already heard back from SSI and been denied on my appeal. So I hired a lawyer. He was more then willing to take my case. My appeal will be done yet again. It has been like 2 years on this, looks like it will be even longer. Anyway, I learned a lot for sure, need to stay on top of this and see a dr as much as possible. But I have no insurance. That is really hard when you don't have the money to pay for it. Anyway, going to be a long road. Peace to all that are there, have been there, or is on there way there. Thanks for listening. Mary

I have been dealing with my disability case for over two years now myself. Fortunatly I was already on medicaid already because I have a minor child and our only source of income is my daughters survivors benefits from her late father--so that was no problem. Just out of curiosity, how do you get disability medicaid w/o being on disability? Dont mean that in a wierd way just wondering.
