I have imsurance but due to my irrational fears havent.been in years or know how insurance works. So does anyone know if I would pay something at visit. I know it may be different for dentist orothers but assuming its major dental surgery and I dont have money right now could I still get the work done right.now?

My dental insurance covers about 80% of my dental bill. I have a card with my insurance info on it. I give the card when I get to the dentist and they take down the info that's needed.
I have the work done, they submit it to the insurance company and send me a bill for the balance. |

I would check with your dentist's receptionist when you decide to make an appointment, find out if they take your insurance and how it works (if you have to pay anything when you go).

It's very different from medical insurance. Did you try creating a user account on your insurance's website. You'll have access to the coverage summary brochure. If there is an annual deductible, you'd have to pay that on your first visit plus the office visit copay, xrays, etc. Depends on the dentist, whether they want the money up front or paid in installments. I know some work with carecredit for financing. Healthcare and Medical Financing for Consumers | CareCredit™

I go to a dental clinic, I used to pay out of pocket for it but I now have medical assistance.

appreciate your comments, Perna. This is the way I've handled it. sometimes I have to pay out of pocket, but sometimes they'll work with me here. Expecially if I'm appropriately persistent. See if that helps you, sadgirl, and don't give up!!!

After you check with the dentist if they take your insurance company. Check in with your insurance company to see how much they cover for any procedures that you need doing.
If you haven't been to the dentist for a while and don't know where to go, ask your friends who they go to and are they any good. Good Luck. |
