My company is ending our insurance because it is not compliant. I have a week or so to decide what to do. I am looking at HSAs. Prescription drugs are one of things it is supposed to cover. I am not sure if there are any requirements as far as which drugs. If they are branded you are going to have a harder time.

That's the thing with Obamacare it is kicking people off of their old insurance plans and giving them this socialized version of health-care that for many people is worse than what they had before.

It really isn't socialized. The reason plans are being disco'd is because they aren't compliant. You can still find that sort of plan. You just have to pay 95 or 1% of your income next year. There was a story this morning. The reason they go up is if you live in an area like aspen and don't have work ins which would not be so location specific. Every thing is more expensive but they are still investigating. Or you live in a state that didn't take in Medicaid expansion. I already knew this but the news confirmed it. I keep asking for another reason but nobody comes up with one. They other major reason is they didn't have it before. They will pay the fine which is less. They still have a choice.
As a contractor I have the choice of group ins from my company but they don't cover any of it so the only bene is it is group. Or I can go private which I will probably do. My state went with med exp. I live in an urban area. I am finding the plan prices to be about the same. The old plan was a couple/few hundred per month cheaper. But I don't get rx coverage until after ded. I don't spend 1200 or whatever it is in a yr on drugs and I have to submit receipts. A couple years ago they wanted to verify with a doctor and the jerk ignore them. I lost several hundred over that. I could have used an hsa and it would have been so much easier. I still believe premiums will go down over time. So how much did your plan go up and do any of the above scenarios fit? I am not denying it is stupidly expensive but you guys are saying it is MORE expensive for no discernible reason. I don't want a system based on insurance but that is what was negotiated. That, btw, is why it is not socialized medicine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
