O.M.G.

I got a letter from SS today:

"You are entitles to monthly disability benefits beginning November 2013......"

I cannot believe it! My attorney told me to me a second expect denial letter so I figured that's what it was but I got it. Only thing is it says my doctors who say I am disabled expect my health to improve so they will review in October 2015.

Oh wow.

Yes I am relieved. But...I also feel kind of weird and ashamed.

Be kind to yourself, when life makes you feel defeated and hopeless and good things happen there will be a period of awkwardness this is normal.

Do not feel ashamed, this is negative self talking!

Glad to hear the good news!

It would be great if your health would improve enough that you could work. I still really miss my teaching.....

Congrats, HALLIEBETH87. And yes, perhaps someday if you feel up to it, you can return to working. I, for one, am unable to work right now but know from practicing disability law that I would not qualify for benefits due to my date last insured and lack of disability before that time.

did you have to go before a judge and hearing to get benefits? I wont get a hearing until next year sometime. I hate that it takes so long but they courts where I am only has 14 judges and many cases ahead of them. I dont know how many cases a day they see but I just want this year to come and go so I can get through this.

How long did you wait for reconsideration stage? It's been the date past the initial application which is 30 days, and still haven't heard anything.

Thanks for the answer, Its been more than a month for me, I reapplied on the 14. I am awaiting the day I get the award letter. I think I turned in everything I needed this time, I am trying to contact determination services but no-one is picking up frustrating.
