On June 6th 2014, I have my long awaited disability hearing. I won't bore you with a detailed explanation of my medical issues, both physical and psychological. I will, however, ask all my friends near and far away to please take a moment a...t some point to say a prayer, send some energy, work some mojo, cast a spell, perform a ritual, light a candle, burn some incense, make an offering, shake your money maker, chant, do a visualization, have a drum circle, whatever your preferred technique is. I have a diverse group of Facebook friends of many faiths/religions/philosophies/paths/beliefs and I truly need all the help I can get on June 6th 2014. Dr. Louis Pasteur said in 1854 "Fortune favors the prepared mind", which inspired me to prepare for the hearing I won in 2012, where I proved without a lawyer helping me that the YMCA wrongfully terminated me. Once again, I was unable to get the help of legal counsel, so in the immortal words of John Lennon and Paul Mccartney, "I'm going to try with a little help from my friends." See More

best wishes~! (of course any documents you have showing a 'professional' agreement with your assessment is a fine thing to have, too )

Good wishes. Be sure to pause and think before you speak, even when sure of your reply.

Got my diagnosis on paper today, been acquiring documentation from 2 eye doctors, a kidney doctor, my general practitioner, my therapist, my psychiatric nurse practitioner, and a psychiatrist.

My hearing went well last Friday, the occupational expert they had there to testify against me took my side and testified that I was highly unlikely to be hired with my varied mental health issues. All they wanted to know, and asked on several occasions, was did I have documentation concerning my mental health diagnosis. I didn't even get a chance to mention that in the stack of documentation that was faxed to the judge this morning was my discharge papers from CPEP. The psychiatrist at CPEP diagnosed me with Aspergers, which confirmed what my mother and I had been saying for quite a while, and it seems the judge had already gotten that diagnosis from CPEP, because he mentioned that I'd been diagnosed with Aspergers, but didn't ask for any documentation.

In the mail today was my letter telling me that I was turned down a second time for disability. Now I get to deal with the appeals council. No, I am not getting a lawyer, I have no money for a lawyer, I tried working with disability lawyers twice, may they choke on their bagels and spend the rest of their shyster lives suing the bagel company for damages. Me, I'm going back to the room at the end of the hall where I wait for the weekend to be over so everyone will go home to their own homes, and I can enjoy the peace and quiet of my riding lawn mower all day Monday. I'd go to CNY Pride on Saturday, but I have no gas money or crowd tolerance any more.

Sorry to hear that Keith. I think you should consider lawyers again. They work on contingency fees. If your appeal is denied you won't own them any money. If they win your case the maximum fee is 25% of any back pay.

Got my disability hearing next Friday.

i know how hard it is to keep fighting when you are down and out. i won my appeal on the grounds that " my condition had worsened ".... mostly due to the stress of not being able to take care of things , the daily grind ground me up. but you cannot get disability if you are able to work more than 15 hrs a week, usually (if i remember right).

then once you are certified disabled, the first thing they want is for you to go back to work... it's insane. hang in there, let doctors see you at your worst. get copies of their notes at the time of the visit. if you can get two docs to say you are unable to tolerate the work environment, you have a good chance with your appeal ~!

best wishes
Gus

Just a update on my personal life, I rebuilt my Facebook page that I use as a way to help others like me using what few resources I have left. The new web address is on my Psych Central profile.
