So I applied for fs 6/25/14, emergency 7 day application. Yesterday I finally got a determination letter stating that "my household qualifies 6/25 through 11/30 & that the current amount is $245" That's it! No card! Of course it came on Saturday, when nobody is in the office! I called and left a message asking how I access the benefits without a card, when/how I will get the card. This is such a load of crap! Why doesn't it state the monthly benefit amount? Is $245 for June, July and August? Or is it the monthly amount? A 2 sentence statement with confusing wording and no access is hardly helpful! My blood is boiling!

Congratulations, Mrs. Mania.
If you've a family, likely your monthly benefit is $245?
Just call on Monday to clarify all your concerns.

Again, congratulations.
For a 100%+ National poverty level Social Security monthly income of ~ $900, single household (self), $400 of which goes to rent & phone, plus medical bills paid each month --- Princess was awarded a monthly food stamps benefit of a whopping $10/month.
It all goes by state. Interesting, no?

Good luck.

I really tried to just be happy that I finally got a response. But today I am just angry! It took them longer than the 7 or even 30 days they have to answer= illegal! + I do have a family, I can't believe I had to feed my daughter ramen noodles AGAIN- when I have this supposed benefit! I just want to make her a healthy meal, and have her leave the dinner table full!

Im sorry this has happened and your left wondering what the monthly amount will be.

Is there a Church or food bank that can help you with additional foods ?

Best wishes

In Massachusetts, an individual can get $200 a month in food stamps, so I suspect that $245 is your monthly amount for a "household" in North Carolina.

Too bad we have to guess. Sounds like crummy letter.

Got them!!! Thanks to all the taxpayers who made this possible. I still used coupons and saved $36! I used them wisely according to the cashier, it was unbelievable to fill a cart. My daughter ate salad, rolls, chicken, potatoes, corn on the cob and fruit salad for dessert! I actually cried tears of joy while doing the dishes. She went to bed two hours earlier than usual, woke today saying that was the best she has slept in weeks. I truly believe it was the full stomach! Thank you for the last few weeks of listening and support!
