Title edit: Likely impact of making $100 A WEEK babysitting on CDR? (for SSDI)

I'm looking for any opinions, and especially opinions based on experience, about the likely impact of making $100 a week babysitting on a Continuing Disability Review by SSDI. I wonder how much that will influence Social Security's decision about whether or not the recipient is still disabled?

Are you aware that you can earn so much money while still qualifying for disability? There are plenty of people out there who earn money but still end up re-qualifying for disability when up for review. You might want to check with your local social security office and such as advice on the internet is skewed at best. (On one forum I was flat out called a liar because I was approved on the first time, and within about 5 months, and supposedly that happens to nobody----we all know that's not exactly true!)

I think it also depends on your ongoing symptoms and ability to work outside of the home to support yourself. There are many factors that go into a decision in addition to simply earning $100 a week.
Thanks for this!

I agree with ChipperMonkey...all the rules, qualifications are so varied. It's best to check with you local social security office. Best wishes to you.

There are people on SSDI earning a lot more than that without it having any impact on their CDR.

Unless the people who have hired you as a babysitter are reporting this income to the IRS, I would seriously consider not even mentioning it to the SSA, if I were you. But that's just me.

If you do report it, two factors will protect you from having an adverse impact on your benefits. #1) The babysitting job is not as demanding as other employment would be and so is doable by you, even with your disability. #2) You don't have the ability to work full-time as a babysitter earning the minimum wage.
