Most of you know my situation already, but here's the deal:

Almost three years ago, I applied for disability and got denied. I went through the whole deal of requesting a reconsideration, etc. Two and a half years ago, I got an attorney. We got a hearing in August of last year, and in November, I got another denial letter--which my lawyer appealed right away. Well, here is the middle of September, and there is still no response from the top guys in Virginia. I've talked to my attorney several times and he keeps telling me that the only thing we can do now is wait. My grown kids have been helping me, but at the expense of getting behind on their own bills. My gas, electricity, and water are about to be shut off. Is there a top person I could talk to about speeding up the decision?

Since the VA and back logs is such a hot topic right now I would suggest contacting your local congressman at their local office. You never know. I know of one person where their congressman intervened and it was resolved right away.

Well, I meant "Virginia" when I said VA. Those guys are the top dogs in SSD. Would a congressman really intervene in someone's disability case?
