My son is missing, and I've been moving heaven and earth to find him. It's awful. Everything else seemed to be fine (thank god, because I can't handle more stress!) until I woke up this morning to check my welfare account.

Turns out the "powers that be" decided I didn't need welfare money this month. So now I have no way to pay my bills or to put gas in my car.

Compared to my son being missing, not having money is a small thing, but it is also a necessary thing for my family.

I don't know how much more of this I can take. I'm already at the breaking point.

Thank you for answering. I feel so horribly alone. I followed my safety plan to a T. Except calling 911. I still can't bring myself to do that.

How old is your son? Has he ever gone off before so that you didn't know where to find? I'm sorry you're going through so much. I hope you find your son.

He's 17, and he's NEVER done this. Luckily I was able to speak with him on Thursday. He says they're in Texas "somewhere" and they don't know when they're coming back. I'm so glad he's alive, but they're not planning on being back before school starts on Monday. :-(

I'm so sorry but I'm glad he got a hold of you. Do you know why he did this?

I'm glad you heard from your son and know he's alive. Sounds like he may have fallen in with the wrong crowd. Since he's 17, there's not much you can do about him running off. You must be very worried. Maybe he'll learn something from this experience.

I hope nothing too bad happens to him and that he comes home soon.

The police found my son and his girlfriend. We're so relieved, but my son is very angry now and will barely speak to us. It hurts, as he's always had a great relationship with me.

He says he left bc he hates Albuquerque. I asked him if he wanted us to move (I'd definitely be open to that) but he said no. Sigh. I'm so exhausted and confused!

He's still a kid with hormones and I'm sure he's confused and full of "teenage rebellion". Have you told him how worried you've been? How you wish he'd talk with you before just running off? I'm sorry you're going through this..positive vibes your way!

At 17, I would vote for the idea that he's old enough to live on his own anyway, with support here and there from parents.

Glad to hear he's safe. Hope the financial situation resolves.
