I have heard that it only covers people under 18 in missouri. So I wouldn't be covered.

But what if its a psychiatrist doing the counseling?

Also what is the minimum amount of time they can bill medicaid for?

Is it in 15 minute increments? So less then 15 minutes would be unclaimable?

I have read its a "fee for service" but I'm guessing the service and amount medicaid will pay are based on time?

Any answers with sources would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to Psych Central (PC) theusername. Thank you for joining PC. Your question may get other responses, but since it is so specific to the type of insurance you have, you may want to contact the insurance provider directly.

Getting sleep may be the single one thing that keeps me in balance. If you are not sleeping or having bad side affects, contact your psychiatrist and tell him what is happening so you can make adjustments.

Last time I looked at an insurance summary, I want to say my psychiatrist bills by a partial hour for the fifteen minute sessions. Compared to my neurologist who bills a full hour. I don't know if numbers are standard state by state, they truly could be, we are talking $300 per hour...pdoc was $150(?)...checked my account last month or maybe in February...
I think coverage for mental health was part of a federal mandate, but I don't recall nor did I fully investigate, as my state has been covering all those debated upon topics for a long time, perhaps ten years now?

i really dont know a lot but i do know that they bill in 15 minute increments rounding up to the closest 15 minutes. so if you are in there for 10 they are billing for 15. there are two different types of medicaid. the type that existed before obama care is called fee for service. most agencies dont have a problem taking that one. i forget what the newer medicaid is called. it is not as welcomed by many agencies. welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome

You use their services so billing is not an issue: Psychology Program
