I'm in the NYC area, but my health insurance is out of state. I started seeing a doctor about a year ago for an antidepressant prescription. My primary out of state had recommended a particular med but could not prescribe in NY.

My problem is the expense of frequent visits at $300 a pop. I've arrived at a course of medication which is fine, and really have no need to meet with this woman every other month. The visits are perfunctory and do not help. But she has refused to see me at less frequent intervals. She agrees I may not need the frequent check-ins, but suggested seeing my primary .. who, as I've said, is out of state. This being the reason I saw her in the first place.

I need to find someone at a lesser cost, or someone who is willing to meet with me less frequently (perhaps twice a year) to continue to prescribe this one med (Mirtazapine.)
