Hi i had school last week and the school had a to meeting with my parents and myself and decided that i would benefit from outside counseling. the school is working on trying to find one that would be covered by mass heath. i also get ssi. i had a school psychologist last year but she retired but their are a few at my school still but the school refuses to give me a new one. it states in my iep i can have one if i request one. i did see one yeserday and asked if i could see her weekly but my teacher did not know. i am on ssi and have low income and not sure if i can afford going to counselling. is there any founding that could help me out ?

Hi detour1,
What you're dealing with sounds very frustrating. Were you given a reason that they aren't honoring your IEP? Your parents may have to go to the school board or maybe a local TV station. I know nothing about how things work in schools or in Massachusetts. One thing you or your parents might want to try is calling 211. It's a good starting point. Your local health department or Dept. Of Social Services may be able to point you in the right direction. Like I said, I know nothing about your situation. I just hope that you can get the help you deserve. ![]() |

You might not like it, but, Catholic Charities might be a good bet for free counseling.
