I may not be popular with some people saying this .......but here goes.....
The American and British among others send billions of pounds to countries that are supposed to be poor, a few of these countries have nuclear weapons...... Where the hell did that money come from?.........in my opinion (foreign aid). This money could have been spent on welfare, rant over. I leave you with that thought. |

In the U.S. less than 1 percent of the budget goes to foreign aid. Since our budget is so large, this does add up to billions of dollars. While I agree it would be great if billions more dollars could go towards helping the poor in the U.S., the federal government has to consider foreign relations as well as domestic issues. It would look pretty bad if a country as well-off as ours didn't contribute to poorer ones--it's for diplomatic reasons as well as humanitarian ones. People hate the U.S. enough as it is.
