Times are hard, and we need to rob Peter to pay Paul. So we applied for another credit card through a huge (not bank) institution. That was in November. They required 3 months bank statements, but we don't have personal bank statements as we have our own business and the bank statements are in that name. Fine - they'll accept it. I couldn't email them because it is in excess of 35 pages. So we faxed. But this was after many emails back and forth. It cost us a fortune to fax and lo and behold - they claim they never received it. At this stage we were so irritated we told them to get knotted. (In a nicer way though ).

Then 2 weeks ago, we get a call out of the blue, "what happened with our application". We told them that we could not deal with inept staff like that. They told us to take the statements to our local branch, they would make copies. So, still desperately needing the money - we did that. Yay! We get a text message the card is ready for collection. We go collect. No - we cannot have it - we need to produce a utility bill with a physical address. Since physical addresses and postage is rarely used now in South Africa, this proved tricky. But we managed to get the latest cell phone bill - in the business's name (same as bank statements). No. Needs to be in my husband's name. So I dig through our files and find our TV license (that's a utility) and another retail account (actually a cash slip) that are in my husband's name and state our physical address.

Get the card. They have spelt my husband's name incorrectly and won't give the card.

Get a new card? No.

We have to re-apply from scratch.

We are probably better off without that dang credit card to begin with. But we really needed to plug some holes.

Hubby doesn't throw toys in public but he say's he gave them a "freak".

OMG, Sabrina that's awful. I'm sorry you had to deal with such inept people. I tend to throw in the towel if things got to that point. Maybe it was just not meant to be.
Thanks for this!
