I have myself scared to death that I'm obcessing terribly and I can barely get my thoughts together . Here is why : I have been on SSDI since 2007 and have never worked a day since . In Jan I was not in my right mind and I thought I would try working at a ski lodge and I was very unsuccessful and I made less then $150 for the days I worked .
I reported my earnings they sent me a work history paper to fill out now I'm petrified I will lose my disability . I'm literally freaking out and also extremely disappointed in myself bc I feel like a failure bc I could barely work those 2 days. I tried calling SSD today but she never called me back now I will be a mess literally all weekend . Anyone here work on disability or had any similar problems like me? |

In 2016 you can earn up to $809 dollars a month and not have it count as a Trial Work month; at $810 a month it will count as a trial work month and is considered "Substantial Gainful Activity". You are allowed up to nine trial work months and they do not have to consecutive or in a row to count. If you meet the Substantial Gainful activity standard of earning $810 dollars for more than 9 months, your social security would be in jeopardy.
From what you described, you not only did not earn enough to be considered substantially employed for that month, let alone 9 months. They are just following up to confirm that. The system is designed so that you can try working, just like you did without repercussions. No worries. Though be sure to note on the form they sent for what dates they want the work history to go back to; some times it is years, not just the most recent work history. Be careful of that. Good for you in trying to work. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it does not. But it is always worth trying to see what might be. Remember too, failure isn't fatal and it turned out to be success too because you had the courage to challenge yourself to get out there and to try something different: meet new people and learn new skills. You also have found out something new about yourself, that it wasn't a good fit and if you hadn't tried it, you would never have known being left to wonder. ![]() ![]() ![]()

So be sure to look at the date on the form as to when they want the work history to start from. They will just be confirming it with you. I meant be careful not to assume it is only for your most recent work experience, it may ask you to go back farther.

Yes, seems redundant right? If it is the trial work period then why send all that paper work after you have reported employment. Fill it out then relax I guess it is just their procedure, mine came back with a favorable decision....It was redundant, now I'm guessing that the type of job matter since they had to make a redundant decision again.

It is extremely unlikely that you will lose your dusability over this. You did right to report it.
Fill out the paperwork they sent you, emphasizing the continued difficulties tgat your diagnosis is causing you. I guess, by now, you've sent back the paper. In filling out a paper like that, you can put down how you were unable to cope with that job in January. Even if they didn't specifically ask you that, you can put that in there. |
