As many of you, I was trying to get SSI/SSD for quite some time. It's been a four and a half year battle. It went to the federal court, and I was still denied--so the case closed. I was on temporar state disability for the last two years (which only gave me $120 a month). They finally cut me off--even though they admitted they had evidence that I have a disability---because SSA kept denying me. A few days ago, my sister offered me a part time, for only four hours a week. I felt I had to take it because I didn't know what else to do. But the job involves deep cleaning, which is gonna kill my back. Eventually, I'm gonna end up bedridden, because it doesn't take much. (On Thursday, all I did was go get some copies made and go to the laundry mad, but I was so worn out from that, that I couldn't get outta bed the next day until after 12 noon.) I already told my sister that I'd take the job, but I'm kinda scared. She's always been real impatient with me, and if she says that I can't keep up, she'll rip into me. I've thought about reapplying for disability, but I don't want to go through another four and a half years of "hoops."

It is hard working for a relative, but hopefully it will work out. I'm sorry you are having so many problems. I don't know what to say about trying again for disability. Sometimes it takes several tries, I understand. Just take it easy and try not to stress out about the job. Stress is the enemy.

do they have like a vocational rehab where they can retrain you to do something else or help you find something you can do that is not so taxing on your back. that is the only other suggestion I have.
