I became very ill this past year and went on a medical leave. I applied for L/T disability through my job in July. Still have no official response to my claim. They keep saying they need more info, but refused to tell me what info they needed. I now have a lawyer who sent threatening letters, and I submitted a complaint through state insurance commission. On Friday, commission extended the deadline for another month. Meanwhile, I have no income, no job, no home, and no prospects. Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas?

I'm so sorry you are in such a dire situation. I do not know how someone who is homeless could apply for many government benefits. In my town, I am in Florida, there is a place where they provide meals and showers to the homeless (no one is turned away) but they kick them out of the facility after dinner. Everyone has to fend for themselves at night. I hope you have somewhere warm to sleep. My sister lives in the Portland Metro area and the cold has been brutle. Go South? Have you checked to see if you will get a tax refund in Febrary/March? Like maybe with this one: Income Tax Calculator
I hope you find some help or money soon.... |

I'm on long term thru my employers company, since august.
They want everything. I'd suggest asking them what forms need to be filled out and have them Mail you a copy and fax a copy to every Dr you are seeing. Also advise all of your Dr's yo fax your full file to them. Even if it's 1000 pages. That's what I do everything they ask for more info, and I've never had a problem. I'm surprised they haven't denied you yet, which is good so you don't have to appeal. Good luck! |
