This might be a good place to ask this, i mostly come here for myself, but my wife has a long history of bipolar and anxiety, and is currently struggling with kidney failure (end stage renal disease, or chronic kidney disease) visual impairment, and quite reasonablely i think, depression as a result.
The visual impairment is actually the main thing keeping her away from work right now physically (depression/fear mentally, but im not sure that matters in this question, although of course it matters!) She is technically on an administrative leave from her job, denied short term disability because her conditions are caused at least in part by a pre-existing condition (type 1 diabetes) and she changed jobs last Oct so she doesn't qualify for FMLA.
If she doesn't return to work by the end of July, she'll be let go. She has two eye sugeries scheduled within the month of July, and of course we hope they'll work, but how can we predict them?
Because she's been denied, or doesn't qualify for other options, it seems like, she either has to return to work IMMEDIATELY after her second eye surgery and while on dialysis, or quit work entirely and go on disability.
That just doesn't seem right. She was on disability for years due to bipolar and worked hard for recovery and the ability to have a career. She wants to work. And its going to come down to this deadline?
Does anyone smarter than me see a better option?
Thank you so much.
