Question Apr 14, 2018 at 07:53 PM
  #1
So the reason I knew I was definitely bipolar was because I had to leave college and couldn't function the way other students were functioning. I was left with over 10,000 dollars in student loans and felt hopeless. You cannot get rid of these through bankruptcy and could only get a discharge if you were deemed to have a "permanent disability." So the interest piled up.

But God did something.

My Grandma died in a tragic car accident and my family got some insurance money because of it all, enough to pay off my loans. So they were soon paid off.

My question is..is it normal to feel guilty because I only got the money from my Grandma's death? She had to die to pay off my mistakes.

My mom says that God is showing me that he is forgiving my sins, but I still feel guilty. Would you feel guilty?

I don't believe that your grandma "had" to die, but when she did, she was able to pass along something to you that you were able to put to good use. I think it is safe to say that is what she would have wanted. Maybe instead of feeling guilty that your grandma passed you can appreciate the help and peace of mind she has still managed to give you.

I was left some money when one of my grandmothers died in an accident. I was young and very upset about losing my grandmother. I did not want the money because it came via her death. In time, I had learned to be grateful.

What a huge relief to have your loans paid off! I am sure your grandmother would want you to feel that relief!

I’m so happy that you were able to pay off your loan. What a huge burden to be lifted off your shoulders. Like the others said....your grandmother didn’t have to die to help you. It’s not your fault. IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT. I can’t say it loud enough. Guilt is such an insidious creature.
