I am currently In jeopardy of losing both my SSDI and my disability status. Which means I’ll be losing my Medicare. Losing my SSDI is not a big deal. I rarely do anything but work. I don’t spend that much money. I had been planning on looking for a second job in January anyways.

I’m terrified of losing my Medicare. It’s the only insurance I have. I have no idea how much insurance costs. I know some people who pay $900 a month. I have a really good pysch doctor and I don’t want to lose him. I’m worried about how I’ll pay for my prescriptions. I don’t care about therapy. I don’t get physically sick so I’m not worried about finding a doctor or ending up in the hospital. Mental or medical. I’m just concerned about paying for my meds. I read a story about a 26 year old man who died because he ran out of insulin. I’m worried about that happening. What do I do? I do currently have a really good team who could work together so I can stay on Medicare but I’m not sure it will work.

Meanwhile all these people on Facebook who don’t have jobs are complaining that tommrow is Monday and what is the difference between the weekend and Monday for them? Their comments anger me. They have no idea what it’s really like.

Are there any suggestions?

My thoughts are with you. I wish I had more solid advice, but I don't really know a lot about this... best wishes for you.

Check the cost of your meds on GoodRx.

Depending on how much money you bring in you may be able to get cheap to free obamamcare.......the max in my state was $600 , bronze plan were around $300 but may be fully subsidized.

I was told if I lose disability I will still keep Medicare. But of course you have to pay for it.

If my doctor is only like $100 a session then I can pay out of pocket for him since I only see him every 3 months. My mom said not to worry and that I will get my prescriptions.

I am losing everything because I am able to hold down a job and I have been for a couple of years so it is being determined that I am not disabled anymore.

I used to work for a Pharmaceutical company. Some companies will give free medication to people who are really in need.

If you call the Pharmaceutical company and state your case...you may be able to get free medication for your most important medications.

You can tell them this is a temporary request until you get on your feet with the 2nd job.

How about your current bills/debts? When I struggled with my SO's bills, I took a long, hard look at what our options were, and began moving (literal) pennies around to keep a maximum amount of cash on hand on all times.

More cash on hand = more breathing room = less anxiety = more able to concentrate on tackling larger issues.

Honestly, my plate was so full I had to end up making a custom tool to shift bills around and math it out for me. One less thing to worry about.

- Have you considered digital day labor (one-off projects you could do from the home, online)
- (I always hate to recommend this but) would you be open to setting up a GoFundMe to help collect donations to get you through?

I still live at home with my mom. She pays the bills like water and gas and electric and buys a lot of the food we eat. And if I wanted to there are housing options I could move into. Where most of my bills are paid for me. I was offered a spot last year but I turned them down since it would be hard for me to get to work at 6AM since I don’t drive. I think that’s what you mean?

I found out though that these hours at work might be permanent and not holiday hours. So a second job may not even be necessary. I could just ask to stay longer a couple days a week or something. I still don’t know the SSDI situation. They may not even cut it completely.

I’m trying to make things easier and I’m preparing for whatever happens. I’ll be paying off about $400 in bills next month. I’m getting a custom night guard next year. I need $180 in cash. I’ll have some of the cash from selling some old clothes. Whatever works to make things easier for whatever may happen.

You're paying for Medicare on SSDI. It just comes out of your check before it's deposited.

I got some letter from SSDI yesterday that said that as long as I keep my disability status I’ll keep SSDI. It had a lot of other confusing info on it too like trial work period and stuff my mom (who takes care of that stuff for me) didn’t understand. Getting reapproved for disability is the tough part I think.

I had to get my seasonale refilled today. I have bad PMDD and I cannot get my period every month. I’m really worried. I just want to continue to take all my meds and not have to switch to anything else that might be less expensive. Anything else is just going to make me gain loads of weight and have other bad side effects. My mom said I won’t have to switch to anything. My therapist wasn’t helpful and told me insurance is expensive and I’m screwed without my Medicare. I basically fired her and now I’m on my own. I was visibly upset in the car after coming back from the pharmacy today.

I guess $150 every 3 months isn’t bad. But then I have the $100-$150 doctor every 3 months plus who knows what else. I currently get paid $250 a week from work each week. I’m not sure what to do.

I still have my Medicare for right now. So at least I won’t have to worry about the BC until the start of March if anything bad even happens.

If it helps at all, something like 90 or 95% of reviews are approved. For them to deny you have to be functioning really well and they have to believe that you are capable of working. The ticket to work stuff is just to let you know that they have that plan to walk you through going back to work if you can. I think they include that with everyone's.

If you have questions call your local social services administration or go to their office (better option, at least here). They can answer all your questions.

So a couple things have happened. My mom and I have done our part on the paperwork. Now my old therapist has to do her part. I saw my doctor a couple weeks ago, and he says I am definitely still considered disabled. And he will do everything he can to make sure I can still keep my Medicare.

As for my social security, I called them today and it looks like it will be a month to month thing. If I make a certain amount of money at work then I won’t be getting social security, but just for that month. But if I don’t make that amount then I will get it. Next month I will be getting it but I will have to pay it back. I guess something got messed up but that will be the only month I will owe money. After next month I will either get paid or not.

I will be looking for a second job though.

They certainly don't make that process easy. My work situation is similar. I'm on SSDI and have gotten my ticket to work; thing is, most of my assistance goes into rent, bills and cost of living and I can no longer pay all of my bills. I am too overwhelmed by life to work enough to support myself and I do not qualify for SSI (probably because my car loan). Does anyone know if I could be awarded additional assistance (food stamps, housing assistance, emergency?) and/or what more I could apply for? When I went to ask for housing assistance, they gave me a list of places I can't afford in neighborhoods I am unfamiliar with. I am not interested in moving, but I can no longer make all of my payments and afford to eat. Somewhat panicked but mostly thinking about my future. Anyone have suggestions for me?

IDK of any legit advice to give you but I do know of some somewhat shady (but legal) stuff to do to make a little money on the side without them knowing.

I've made a list of stuff I would do if I ever had to get on disability because let's face it, a measly $700 is barely enough to live on, let alone to actually enjoy life with. I mean, lets face it: what is the point of living if you can't enjoy life and be happy? Unfortunately, in capitalist America, you need money for pleasure and freedom.

Anyways, here's my list:

Donate plasma for an extra few hundred a month. Money goes on a prepaid card and you don't have to report anything since you can't make over $650 per month off plasma.

Sell virtual currency in MMO games or mobile games. If you have a PC that can run android emulators, the latter becomes even easier. You can make an extra $300-500 a month easily off this method. Get paid in either bitcoin or PayPal for maximum effect.

Open a stealth eBay and PayPal account under fake information. Note this isn't illegal so long as the account isn't made using stolen information. PayPal also isn't required to ask for your SSN unless you make more than $20,000 per year off sales or sell more than 500 items a year. For inventory, download the eBay app on your phone and hit up garage sales, estate sales, and clearances. Buy items with a high resell value on eBay. Scan the items with your smartphone via the eBay app (or a 3rd party app) to make sure the item you're buying is profitable. When withdrawing money from the PayPal account, request a paper check to be mailed to your house and then cash the check at a check cashing place and pocket the cash. For more information, Google Aspkin. Aspkin is a forum dedicated specifically to this topic.

Trade bitcoins on LocalBitcoin or Paxful for either prepaid gift card codes or cash in mail. You can sell bitcoins well above market value and buy them well below value by trading your own cash bought gift cards or cash by this method. What's more, neither site actually requires ID verification (all though they do encourage it) and Paxful requires you to hold some of your sale money in a bond until you gain a certain amount of successful sales. This method can potentially earn 6 figures if you do it full time.

Head over to blackhat world website and look for some black hat internet marketing methods. There are a lot to choose from that can net you an easy $100-200 or more per month with the potential to scale them into even more profitable ventures. This method is rather tricky and may require more research than the other methods here but can potentially make you more money than a full time job on autopilot if you fully master it.

Some here might agree with my methods here but when people who struggle with MI can't get the help that they need than there is a problem. I'm more than willing to share my methods with people that need the extra help since the system is clearly failing in that regard.
