After nearly 2 years of applying, appealing, gathering all the necessary information, and waiting, I finally have my hearing for disability on Thursday. It will be over the phone because of covid.

For anyone who has had an SSDI or SSI hearing, what are your tips? What can I expect?

Well I had done all my paperwork with my lawyer on the phone and by mail. She called me a couple days ahead to talk about how the whole thing will go. She asked I arrive one hour early, We met and she again explained the way it will go. She put me right at ease. She said the judge was a very kind woman. I was advise to not give quick answers, to make sure I understood the question and ask to have question repeated or explained further if need be.

Also in the room was a woman that was an employment speciaclist My Lawyer said she might has some questions but was doubtful based on not only my psych situation and my physical also. The woman didnt have any questions. I think the judge asked me maybe 12-15 questions. When she was done and the employment woman said she had no questions, the lawyer told me that my case should have never gone to this hearing. She said I should receive my back pay amd monthly SSDI in about 6 weeks.

I think it was 5 weeks later and I got my check.

Altho I was nervous it was simple over all.

Hope yours goes as easily

I had the SSDI hearing on Thursday. We had to do it by phone because of covid. Christina, it was just about what you've described. Much easier than I had expected it to be, I think the interview went well. My lawyer said they'll let me know of their decision in about a month. I won't be surprised if it's sooner, though.
