Hello everybody, hope you are doing great and holding in there in these interesting times.

First let me say I hope this is the right section and if not please feel free to move it. Anyways. I believe my SSI (Supplemental Security Income) is up for it's redetermination date in October, and don't really know what to expect since it's the first one, and am kinda worried I may lose it.

My symptoms have significantly improved since I first started receiving it, but I still am/would be incapable of holding an (at least full time) job, or anything physical due to my physical disability, so I have not been in any therapy or anything like that, which is what makes me kinda worry that that may cause me to not be re-approved if anything would.

So I'm just hoping someone could maybe tell me what I can expect at the appointment, how I can find out more info about the time and place etc. And maybe some advice/tips on how I can make sure I get approved again.

Thank you very much and best wishes and thoughts to all!

I’m on SSDI so it may not be the same. Sometimes I get a long questioner form, other times I’ve gotten just a one page of medical questions. I fill them out and send them back and later I get a letter saying everything is fine. Once when I was trying to go back to work I got asked to come in in person, but it was fine. Good luck

They don't always send the renewals when they are due. So you may or may not get something in August.

As far as the reviews go, my experience has been like Nammu. The last maybe 3 have been the short form. I've never tried to go to work so have never gone in to talk to anyone in person though.

It's stressful but the the reality is that they approve renewals at a very high rate so you are very likely to be fine. Just be honest and if you get the long form emphasize what you can't do rather than what you can. Talk about how difficult it is for you to do things and when you need help. Don't say you can say grocery shop, talk about how it takes 3 hours to recover and you are overwhelmed by the lights and noise (or whatever).

Good luck!

Alright well that is a little reassuring and is great to know thank you very much 😊

So now I'm just concerned about the address the SSA has for my SSI benefits, because I don't currently remember any information and don't have access to my SSA MySocialSecurity account, and haven't received anything in the mail officially about my redetermination. So can I just maybe call the nearest SSA office, and ask them if they can tell me when it is, and what address they have on file?

Yes, you can go to the nearest SSA office. They’ve streamlined their process in recent years and it’s not the all day wait it used to be. I can never remember all the passwords and stuff for their online access either and mostly go in person. My interactions with them have been positive. No food or drink is allowed and the offices I’ve been to have a little box near the entrance that you put your SS number into and it asks questions you answer and it gives you a number. When they call that number it’s your turn.

When you got approved for SSI, were you on medication? If yes, are you currently on medication?
