So I'm in the reconsideration process as of now. As of today they sent me an email stating that they would be sending me a Function Form (meant to discuss daily functioning habits under my disabilities and they effect me on a daily basis).
I just want to say I have a long list of dxs', and even past dxs' as well, but I have more today than I did in the past so, yeah. On top of that I have a long list of medical dxs' stemming from a childhood caustic poisoning burn accident (that's a different story for later). My diagnosis' as follows now: ASD ADHD BPD PTSD Psychotic disorder (nos) And Arfid As a teenager I just had Bipolar 1 disorder, PTSD and Psychotic disorder (nos). My medical diagnosis' to this day follows: Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) Irritable Bowel Syndrome-D In the past I was diagnosed with: IBS-D Minor Scoliosis 12 degree curvature Interstitial Lung Disease with a partially permanently collapsed right lung Scar Tissue on my Diaphragm I live in the state of Arizona, I don't know how they really determine who's disabled or not. Honestly Idk even know if they even are going to allow for me to be on disability. I've even lost several jobs, two I was terminated from. I just don't know if they will consider me as higher functioning even though at times I am struggling with my symptoms. It's not like I live a regular life. __________________ I just want Vega to be happy, despite all that he's been through, he still needs that happiness, to belong and be with someone. |

That sounds stressful. I hope that you get approved.

Hi, you didn't mention whether or not you have a lawyer. I was awarded SSDI, but no way could I have managed the process without a lawyer.

I actively go to a clinic and get treated with meds and everything, but also I'm seeing other doctors for the rest. What I don't get is if I've been in the state system with my psychiatric dxs for quite a few years why would they immediately keep turning me away? Is that just a part of how it works with the social security office? __________________ I just want Vega to be happy, despite all that he's been through, he still needs that happiness, to belong and be with someone. |

A long list of diagnosis doesn’t mean much to them. They are more concerned with your daily functioning anybody can get a Dx

We've sent in countless records of my diagnosis' from over the years going back to childhood. I guess what also was difficult was that most of it wasn't recently updated records. Most of the records were from a span of nearly a decade and a half ago with different doctors.

Oh, for sure - I believe, from the fair amount I know about how the disability system works, that that's the problem. You must have very current (like, this month) medical records and treatment providers, providers you see now or have seen in the very recent past. __________________ |

At this point, if they deny me again, and even I told my mother who's helping me this, "If they deny me on the reconsideration process, I'm going back with Voc Rehab so they can help me in going back to school." If they really consider me too higher functioning even with my disabilities effecting me on a daily basis, I might as well stop wasting my time and go through with working on getting a certification for Medical Coding and Billing. Something I should have done in the early reminiscence of my adult life, but failed to do. __________________ I just want Vega to be happy, despite all that he's been through, he still needs that happiness, to belong and be with someone. |

So, an update.
My cardiologist in my patients records noted that despite slight improvement of symptoms, I was still functionally limited. I think that's what the SSDI office wants to hear. __________________ I just want Vega to be happy, despite all that he's been through, he still needs that happiness, to belong and be with someone. |

@BubonicPlague, having been through the process of getting awarded SSDI, I would like to comment.
Having a disability attorney is a good thing....Studies have shown that applicants with an attorney are more likely to get approval. Also, the SSA is mainly interested in your most recent medical records, from the past year or two........The most important thing to SSA, is how your condition(s) affect your ability to work....It's not enough to just have a diagnosis----The condition must be so severe that you can't work at all, and are severely limited in performing many "activities of daily living". Examples of "activities of daily living" include ability to drive, dress yourself, cook, go to grocery store, handle personal hygiene, do your laundry, pay bills. etc. If you are in the reconsideration phase, and get turned down, you can still go to the hearing phase, where you go in front of a judge.......You actually have a better chance of being approved at the hearing phase, statisically speaking. There could be a wait time for the hearing, though....Time to wait for a hearing can vary according to where you live. __________________ "Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about....Please, be kind, always"..........Robin Williams Diagnoses: Major Depressive Disorder (treatment-resistant) Anxiety/Panic Disorder (treatment- resistant} OCD (treatment-resistant) Agoraphobia (treatment-resistant) Chronic Insomnia (able to sleep with current medication) |
