I want to move out of New Hampshire, preferably to MA but really anywhere with better mental health resources/programs for adults that cannot currently work full time due to shyt mental health but still--for some odd *** reason-- want shelter and food.

Legit have not stayed in one home for more than a week in like two months. Plan for GOOD therapists for DID/CPTSD/eating disorders/alcoholism and a stable, safe shelter needed.

Just wondering how/if a person who cannot, at this time, work full time can get out of this fking shytty situation.

SSI asset limit is $2,000, but realistically you get like $800 a month and I have yet to find a place where that will cover rent, God forbid you want a roof AND some peanut butter.

In Massachusetts rents are near highest in the country. Unless you live in public housing chances are pretty slim to find a decent home at that income.

…ok…
…so…
My question is…
Is it possible for me to get therapy and a safe, stable shelter…?
“OUTSIDE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE…”?!?

I tried googling that question because I have no idea. But I got nowhere except sites that just repeated warm lines, 988 and ERs. So I googled where’s the best places to get mental health care and the most expensive states came up. California, New York, New Jersey, and surprisingly Hawaii. All northern expensive states except Hawaii which has to be the most expensive of all.

I don’t know what the answer to your question is but I’d avoid the red states for sure. Did any of your CW help you fill out applications for sec 8? They do have waiting lists but they have priorities for those who have mental health issues and are homeless. Once you are on sec 8 in your state you can look into transferring it to another state.

I applied for a 3 month residential/sober living type place run kinda in affiliation with the place I’m staying at now.Maybe with a sob story they’ll move me up the waitlist. If I run out of places to stay, I will most likely go into crisis so I’m going to pay extra attention to triggers and warning signs and when things get out of hand I’m going to go to Mass General should I need, YET A-FKING-NOTHER, inpatient stay.

I applied to section 8 two years ago.

If I recall correctly my case manager and I updated my application a little while ago with more “have no safe permanent shelter” type answers. I don’t remember exactly what I put down though, but it was after my mom kicked me out and before she was okay with me coming over for a day or two at a time if I am sober and not in crisis so I would think that was reflected.

I found some low income housing with three people on the waitlist and had them email me the application. Tomorrow I need to find a place with a computer and a printer and call my pdoc asking if she’ll vouch that I’m disabled. It’s in NH but it’s in an area I’ve never lived in but I’ve driven through (beautiful af) and knew a guy that moved to that exact town and he loves it. It’s out of region so I’ll lose the ACT team not that I’ve really been in contact with them lately but I figure I’ll do virtual therapy or go down to mass since it’s close to the border.

Thanks! There is a day center in the next building over and I think they have a printer for free but I think I can spare 50 cents for the library if they don’t.

Yeah that’s the only down side to the library, gotta have change. Although a couple times in the past when I was down and out and needed something I was upfront with the librarian and said I had no money they printed for me for free. Libraries are Americas greatest treasure. Good luck

Printed it and started working on it. Only thing now is waiting for the bank to open because my online account got locked due to inactivity and they want to send me stuff through my phone to reset the password, but I changed my phone number two days ago. So now I have to go down and tell them my new number.

Also applied to financial aid for legit guitar lessons instead of having to go to S's house to work on technique.

I am STILL frustrated as all hell by this BS. I've decided to just stay in NH because it's easier to not move states. I tried contacting HUD on estimated waitlists and they just said to contact the agency I sent the applications into, so I asked my CM if she's heard anything about any of the housing programs I applied to. She said no and told me to reach out to them, but didn't give me any real contact info for an answer beyond "ask where you gave your application," I gave my application to my CM to fill out the shyt that says I'm not lying about being homeless and being stressed by working to the point all I fking do is cry, vomit, and slash my wrists! So, yeah, that's helpful....

I managed to find a website that I wasn't even aware of where you can check your status. I got on many waitlists over a year ago, and yeah, I've alerted them that since I have lost all housing and now I am homeless after fleeing an unsafe environment (talking about my dad's) and disabled (due to severe and chronic mental illness and am in ACT as I was when I told them).

This is ridiculous. There is no job I can straight up get hired for that will pay for rent and food, but if I get a shyt job probably part time without going through the ridiculous ticket to work extra steps that just further complicate things they stop my benefits and all of a sudden at this rate I'll probably be like $500,000 in medical debt by the end of the year. And still homeless. But, if I actually last a decent time and don't freak the fk out like I can't imagine happening, I get to put a reference on my resume?

They tell you to get on disability because it's obvious you can't work after spending 10 weeks out of a year in the hospital, are sleeping 10-14 hours a day because of your meds, and you are a legitimate danger to yourself and others almost constantly. Then you figure out it's impossible to live in a society on disability if you want a roof, heat, and food. But you're terrified of returning to work because you might spend another 10 weeks out of the next year in the hospital or you'll seriously hurt someone or kill yourself or you actually do okay and they ween you off your benefits and something happens and you wind up where you were 10 years ago.

Hi Muddy boots I just read that if you need IP you'll go to MGH. Even better is McLean which is affiliated with MGH. They accept Medicare/Medicaid and have wonderful people there.
If you do get to Massachusetts, let me know. Ill buy you a coffee.
