Lump at the back of left testicle.

Hey folks,

I was wondering if anyone had experience with a lump on their testicle.

My description of the lump is that it is a lot smaller than a pea, it's painless and it's been there for many years not causing an issue. The only occasional problem that would occur is a dull ache in the left testicle and a dull ache in the groin.

I've been doing some research and there are many explanations to why there is a lump there - I'm hoping for it to be a painless fluid-filled cyst.. but if it is testicular cancer... well, at least the success rate is extremely high.

The success rate for testicular cancer is high IF it is caught and treated early. Have you had an MD look at the lump and had it diagosed? If no, please do so immediately. All the best to you.

Good advice, I second what Unhappyguy said, when it comes to anything like that, get it diagnosed as soon as possible, you do not want to take chances with that one.

It's always good to get things checked out. Most of the time, the doctor will do a quick exam and then ask for an ultrasound. It's rather painless and they'll literally do a complete exam of your whole sac. If you're lucky you'll get a cute technician who will squeeze goop on your balls and rub them around for 5-15 minutes taking pictures.

I personally have three cysts in my right testicle, two in the left, a granuloma in the left side veins, as well as significant varicoceles on the left. I've even had a 2.3cm x 2.1 cm x 1.8 cm cyst removed from the right testicle as it was painful.

Needless to say, I feel great knowing it wasn't cancer and so long as you have no pain, noone is going to cut anything off down there.

I wonder how I missed this thread. I'm not sure why you revived it but glad you did. I have spermatoceles and varicoceles and other types of cysts too. Some are painful. What was the surgery experience like?
BTW yes I had a very attractive ultrasound tech. You make it sound a lot better than it really is

As for the tech, when they're good looking, it's a really good distraction when they are pushing the ultrasound wand into your testicles. I had a really beautiful, petite, young woman doing it. It's a little of an aside, but I probably would have enjoyed it more if it was a sexy young guy with strong hands (I'm bi, but prefer guys).

Anyways, the surgery was successful, getting rid of the cyst. My scrotum swelled up to the size of a grapefruit. During recovery I found that the testicle initially healed stuck to the scar in the scrotum skin. It took about 6 months before it finally separated with a rather painful "tear" at the scar tissue. After that my right testicle never hung where it was before, always high. I also developed scar tissue on the epidydimus and the spermatic cords and to this day (7 years letter) I still have discomfort in the groin along the cords.
I'll be honest, I don't think I could have lived with the pain from the cyst. It was actually painful, at points being 10 out of 10 on the scale. Without the surgery I would have had 10 out of 10 pain for the rest of my life. With the surgery done, I have 1 to 3 out of 10 (more discomfort). Do I regret the surgery?...no. Do wish it was better?...yes.

Did the doctor recommend surgery for you?

We didn't talk much about treatment options. I don't have insurance or a trust fund so neither of us saw much point in discussing it really. I also found out in the exam that I have two inguinal hernias. The possible outcomes for surgery for those is even worse than surgery for cysts seems to be.
1 to 3 doesn't sound bad. It's there but it's something we can easily live with. That's about where mine is most of the time. Occasionally it may get up to the 5 or 6 area but not often or long enough to worry about. I have a good pain threshold... as long as the pain isn't in my ears, teeth, or jaw at 7 I'd have to start thinking of some way to correct it. If the situation doesn't change I don't think I'll give surgery much thought. Appreciate the info and enjoyed talking. I haven't been active on the new member forum in a while so a belated welcome

After hearing about your hernias, I recommend leaving it all alone unless something becomes unbearable. I had a bilateral inguinal hernia repair done two years ago. It was recurrent from childhood and due to the groin pain, the surgeon was adamant about the surgery as there was too much risk of a strangulation when it's the second time. I do regret not stopping the surgery, as I am worse off due to scarring and pain that I was before.
You might understand that my statement about my sexuality was not to provide "TMI", but is a way for me to become more confident in and accepting of who I am and be able to stand up for myself. That way I can feel better about myself.
I hope that other can learn from my mistakes, because I vcertainly have.

TMI is in the eye of the beholder.

It is best you go see a doctor and find out what that lump really is.
