How do you feel about setups? Someone wants to set me up with a friend, and I know nothing about this woman except she is a little younger than me, Italian, and is into the same sports I am. Sounds good on paper.

Should I do it?

What about the complicating factor - if it doesn't work out, then perhaps the person doing the setup will be disappointed or upset, and this is in the work environment?

You work with her? Baaaaad.

If you don't work with her, then go for it. You can't be disappointed if you expect something insane, just go have fun.

Unless you work with her, then ... no.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. The would-be matchmaker works in the law firm next door to my office, and the attorneys in the two firms collaborate on a lot of cases, so it's almost like we are co-workers. I have never met the friend who is the would-be setup for me.

I just don't want it to be awkward if it doesn't work out, if I make a bad impression, or something worse like it becomes intimate and she isn't "pleased" with my competence or lack thereof. That could be embarrassing.

Yup, go for it. Worst thing that can happen is you have a good evening and part ways.

Don't go for a "blind date" how about asking your friend to arrange a get together with several other people so it won't be so "date-ish" would give you an opportunity to meet her and see what you think without any pressure.
