Hey y'all !
Here and now, I call on all of you guys to tell me a little bit about yourself, and if you're open to it, become my friend on this forum. Here's why ... I'm realizing, more and more everyday, that I really should make more male friends. Most, if not all, my friends over the past few years were women. I always thought that that was ok because I'm an emotional and sensitive guy (i.e. more than the average male). But, very few of those friendships with women really worked out long-term. Perhaps, hard to keep friendship completely separate from lust ? In any case, I'm thinking that it's not healthy to have friends of just one gender. I also think that I have missed out on a lot of fun "bro" times Recently, I befriended my neighbor who's a guy, and I've really enjoyed the bro-ness ! It reminded me of what I've been missing out on. It also reminded me of why I love being a dude ! The gym reminds me of that too, haha ! Can you relate ? Similar stories in your life ? So, say hello, y'all ! Man up and make a new friend __________________ I turn to the crowd as they're watching They're sitting all together in the dark in the warm I wanted to be in there among them I see how their eyes are gathered into one And then she turns to me with her hand extended Her palm is split with a flower with a flame - Suzanne Vega (1987) |

I can relate. I'd love to have more male friends. I've been married for almost 17 years.
Ever seen the movie I Love You Man. ? Awesome movie. Another guy and I have hung out a few times. We've done a few things together w/ my son and his daughter. Last time, he came over to our place and we played Wii Guitar Hero. A blast! My life recently has been centered around reading and writing. I've written a few essays just for myself. I'd like to polish them up a bit and see if I can get them published. I'd also like to publish a book or 2. I'm thinking about making them anonymous, mostly because I'm not really about fame, and I'd like to be honest and make some points relevant to society at large, and challenge some assumptions... but, I'd like to earn money by publishing. I'm just not sure if it's possible to fulfill both (make money and publish what I really want to say-anonymously.), but I think it would be fun to try. I love to read... and hope that Mark Twain would be seen as an influence on my writing style. And maybe Kierkegaard. __________________ My business is to teach my aspirations to conform themselves to fact, not to try and make facts harmonise with my aspirations. T.H. Huxley |

You're an interesting guy. Why not publish with your name ? There's nothing wrong with telling the world who you are. You can do that and still not worry about fame. What are the subjects of your essays ? Will look up I Love You Man ! Thanks for the suggestion ! __________________ I turn to the crowd as they're watching They're sitting all together in the dark in the warm I wanted to be in there among them I see how their eyes are gathered into one And then she turns to me with her hand extended Her palm is split with a flower with a flame - Suzanne Vega (1987) |

Skeezyks, thanks for the response. I've seen your responses to a lot of new member introductions (including mine) ... it's nice that you take the time to respond to so many people.
If I may ask, why do you think you don't get along with anybody ? __________________ I turn to the crowd as they're watching They're sitting all together in the dark in the warm I wanted to be in there among them I see how their eyes are gathered into one And then she turns to me with her hand extended Her palm is split with a flower with a flame - Suzanne Vega (1987) |

I recently wrote a Johnathon Swift type essay defending the Christian religion. A friend suggested I submit it to the Onion.
I'd like to write some essays commenting on the current understanding of consciousness and free will, from a philosophical perspective. I still think a pseudonym might be the best choice. __________________ My business is to teach my aspirations to conform themselves to fact, not to try and make facts harmonise with my aspirations. Hello IA what can I say about myself ?
I was able to work for 35 years before bipolar ended that part of my life. I ran my own business for 12 of those years and spent the last 15 working a job that I can't say to much about online but its one I am proud of serving in. I am a life long fisherman and lover of all things saltwater and nautical. The saltwater lifestyle is what I love. I have three great kids all young adults now. I love writing and have written poems, short stories and now working on a book. I would give anything to be published so if anyone knows the process please let me know. __________________ I traded it in for a whole 'nother world A pirate flag and an island girl |

But, many people these days are self-publishing. The fellow who wrote the book The Martian, self-published. His book was recently made into a move starring Matt Damon. I don't believe that many people who self-publish are making much money. It would require some kind of promotion to make people aware your book even exists. And I'm not sure how to get that ball rolling. I'm pretty close to finishing a work of non-fiction I'd like to self-publish. Amazon looks pretty good. I know where to promote my book, as it's a niche topic. But, I'm not sure how many people, world-wide, would be interested. __________________ My business is to teach my aspirations to conform themselves to fact, not to try and make facts harmonise with my aspirations.
