Hey,

So, I'm on the verge of completely losing a relationship with a woman whom I cared for a lot. After 3 years, she sees a guy for a month and is basically ready to sideline me. Despite our relationship having many intimate moments and her saying a lot of things such as "I love you" and so on, she is basically telling me that I need to be sidelined in favor of her new boyfriend.

This woman went out on a date with her boyfriend on my birthday and didn't even bother to send me a message on my birthday until I messaged her the day after and she gave a half-assed apology. She has effectively stopped contacting me even though prior to July we would communicate practically every day. We seemed like the perfect match and now she's telling me to **** off.

I don't know what happened. I don't know where it all went wrong. I've received so much abuse from women (including physical, but heavily psychological/mental) and there have been so many times where I have been sidelined because make way for the popular boyfriend or whatever. I've never been a rude or violent person or anything, just socially awkward, shy, and terrible with reading people socially and maintaining friendships (thanks, middle school).

This, despite now practically having my own life (I don't live with my parents), I still struggle. I'm 24 and I'm losing faith. I'm becoming convinced that I'm going to be lonely forever and no one will ever want to be with me. People have told me I'm "handsome" but I certainly don't feel that way.

I can't believe this person would harm me so much so suddenly. I don't know where to turn to.

I was going to ask you how old you were and then you said towards the end of your post 24 ! OMG …what I would give to be 24 again ! I’m old enough to be your dad and I just want to tell you that I have experienced the unknowable nature of women my whole life ! Consider how lucky you are to find out at 24 how fickle women can be. How would you have liked to marry this girl , have 3 kids , buy a house for them and be all in for 20 years and then one day your told that “ I love you but I’m not IN love with you”. She’s been having an affair. And wants out of the marriage because she feels like going in “ another direction ! “
That’s just one possible scenario out of many. Thank your lucky stars that you learned this lesson early . You have your whole life ahead of you !
And always remember to look out for #1 ! And that’s YOU !
Good luck my friend……
