My Haunted House :)

thanks, funny thing is , I aquired everything needed for renovations at atleast 80% discount and spent less than 5k on renovations so far

this includes all new appliances ,stainless fridge,ceramic top stove etc etc

well.... dad always said.. dont look a gift horse in the mouth...

thanks all, as I said before, I know its nothing fancy, and you have to be into antiques to understand its value but, it has a power to it that keeps me living on the property but , I will be building a new house in the future, just on the same property

interestingly I learned a great deal about the original owners and builder today

there is a country store within veiw of the north end of the house, and the owner a late 80's year old lady was taking my order at the grill, and she knew who I was , I started talking to her about the house and she said that it was her great uncles and carried me to the back of the store where there are alot of old pictures on the wall of her family, she showed me a picture of him (her great uncle) with his dog, a very old picture, I snapped a shot of it with my nextel, and she said I can take it and have a copy made, his name was Frank Jackson and his wifes name was Martha, she said they never had any children

then she invited me and my family to her church just down the road, she said they are a very small methodist church, of about 52 members

oh, she also called him her crazy uncle and said don't worry he won't bother us

heres the foyer entrance ...could'nt find the one at x-mas ...this is where we put up the tree, the room is about 6ft x 14ft

heres the living room, its kinda hard to get a full shot since the room is about 16ftx16ft, I'll post a couple but the lighting dont seem that great and the pics aint coming out to well, but the colonial beige walls look really good in person

there is a usable fireplace behind the couch between the 2 windows but I removed the mantel so the couch would fit, and insulated and sheetrocked over it, after we build a new house I will reopen it, so it can be put back to use, and use a more traditional formalized furniture setup, also I'd like to add some Bali wood blinds to help set off the floors a bit more,maybe this summer

We have a 6 burner stainless, in Fort Laderdale, it was giving me a little trouble last weekend though, its practicaly new but, never used hardly, maybe the regulator went bad I'll check it out next month or so......

I use charcol here now, but have already picked out a stainless for here, for this summer,I'll keep the charcol grill for the corn on the cob, when it starts to come off

I buy meat in 55lb bundles, so hope you like T-bones or Ribey

I quess I'll quit wasting space here with pics, the rest of the house consists of the laundry room painted antique (tanish), a formal dinning room 14ftx20ft painted (Medow green & antique), and bedrooms painted (Sky gray) a real light soothing color, with light multi colored berber carpet, the same as the rug in the foyer pic, one of the bedrooms has a operational fireplace, though I have left the 3 shelf antique mantle, I closed off the opening into the fireplace, since its in my little girls room, I'll open it back one day, as well

oh... and my computer nook in the dinning area, not really sure what it used to be

coral you might have an air bubble in that propane tank... its an easy fix... the heat and direct sunlight causes the air to rise to the top and you get a 'cold flame' .. low flame effect...

bleeding off the air fixes it... but sometimes you can blow out a regulator from the air pressure in the bottle..

can you take the bottle to your dealer and ask for an air bleed? solved many a problem exactly like you described this way... keep the bottle out of the sun.. i tell people to treat it as they would a baby.. a lot of care....

that is exactly what it did, a cold low flame, the first 2 burners exnited closest to the regulator, then the rest lit (i quess) the piolet flame but not the burners, I lit the burners manualy, but it was kinda windy and they were burning so low and cold all but the first 2 went out, and the burner adjustments did not work, they stayed the same whether they were on high or low

so I went ahead a shucked the corn and boiled it inside, but was still able to grill the steaks, it just took them a long time to cook

not sure if people "carry haunts" but ,I believe I have been haunted since I was a very small child,by different spirts

at our other house about 3 miles down the road ,we had bought 5 acres that had been logged at one time but, long since grew back over, I sent a bulldozer(the largest one around) out for 10 hours to clear a spot for the house, I found reminents of a house existing there at one time, a old wagon weel (the iron frame) a horse shoe,hand type well pump, and bricks ....... I always had bad feelings there though, and never felt welcome

heres the grocery barn, where Franks picture hangs,I walked across the street to get the shot, they were dissing up across the field from me probably wondering what I was doing (LOL), they'll be done in no time with the size tractors they use now but the 55 acre feild across the street were I was standing use to be part of this farm

the store has been there almost forever, though rebuilt of course, all that seperates my house and the store is a 5 acre field some trees and a highway, the highway was the path Sherman took, on his march with his army

note the house next to the store it is in view of my porch and also a antique, Franks niece owned it the store owner told me but, she has passed away recently, and the house has been vacant for some time

I'll zoom in on it from the north end of the house for a better look in the next pic, I'd love to aquire it ,as well, I'll have to talk to the lady at the store to see what they are gonna do with it, it appears to need alot of updates but is structualy sound in appearence

heres the antique house next to the store i zoomed in from the north end of my house, if you look real close you can see the "dinner bell" still standing in the front yard, this how they use to let the family know when to come in from out cutting fire wood,or the farm fields, to eat for lunch or dinner, or if the farmer had a visitor

once again, the road in front of the house was Shermans path on his march

notice the feild across the street all dissed up now since the last pic and ready for a wheat crop

man, I LOVE the smell of fresh turned dirt, my wife always says I'd of been better off living back in the days before electric and running water

it wont be long now and the trees will have all their leaves, and it looks like a whole new world here

I almost forgot the antique lightning rods, heres one of three on my house, the ball around it is blue, not sure what its made from

when the appraiser came out the lightning rods were the first thing he put his attention to, and a black walnut tree in the back, about 25ft tall, he said don't ever cut down that tree since it will be worth over $100,000 dollars in about 120 more years LOL, it is a beautiful tree in the summer but, its kinda a pain getting up all the walnuts that fall off it on the ground

Well, I just bought 2106 Holland patio pavers for a spring project, the other week, anyone want to help lay them, I think I'll go with a Heringbone pattern.

Beers and food are on me, LOL

good times coral.. thats a lot of projects.. i can relate to being in the days of 'before electric and running water' .. ive thought that several times myself... if we ever lose essential services, it may be good to know..
