I have a thread in the relationship area, but i'm going to ask about something related here...

do you guys ever have difficulty with self-control?
I'm working on it currently, but it's really hard.
I am not just meaning in a single area of your life, but in several...

and does anyone have and strategies to develop a better self- control?

I see from your profile that you're 18. (sadly) there isn't any strategy for that...being aware of your impulsiveness is really important though and in time and through trials it will become easier to "control yourself" success in this area comes slowly, be patient!

Ya here it is .Im bipolar so i never ever trust my first responds . I make very slow choices .sometimes they are right other time well im lucky I havent killed someone yet ! I dont like jail and there are times when I would do some crazy **** . It took me along time to get it . I cant trust myself with the first thought that comes in to my head . Give you self tme to think things over your start to look back at some off the choices you would have made that were wrong and that when you get it . Hope this helps

Controlling your impulses gets easier with age and experience. At your age, I think I'd ask myself about the long-term consequences of any decision I made before I acted on it.

It's hard to think long-term when you're young...at least it was for me. I wouldn't think of the consequences of anything I did. That's not to say you should obsess over consequences, but it pays to remember that the future will come, even if you mortgage it...man, I wish someone had given me this advice back when I was your age, thinking back on things.

I'm 18 too and it seems that impulsivity, according to others, is higher now then it will be later. I sometimes act on impulse, sometimes think things through, depends exactly on what we're dealing with here.

Ask yourself, what do you want the outcome to be in the situation? Next, try to rationalize what you want to do; will it lead to that outcome? Will it be the desired A-->B or is it going to be some complex A-->C-->F-->G-->B?

Such as if you're going to ask out a hot girl/guy. Desired outcome is meet and know them very briefly, and hopefully allow more knowledge to be obtained from them later. If you're going to go up and say something like "Hey, wanna have sex?", that's not going to work, even if it is what you want to be a later outcome. Think what to properly say.
