I just randomly start reading a few threads here about narcissism, because I have been called a narcissist a few times, not often but it have happened. I don't think I'm a narcissist, but since some other people seem to think so, I'll make this post and maybe you can give your opinions. I honestly care a lot about other people (which makes me think I'm not a narcissist) But if someone bothers me, doesn't matter why you do it or if you claim to have a good reason for it or whatever, I don't care about your reasons or you and if you make me mad you can go to hell, that's what I think about people who bother me and I don't think it's a problem at all. I rarely do anything wrong, why would I? So people sometimes gets upset with me because I never admit doing anything wrong, but then again, why would I do anything wrong and why can't I explain why I did (whatever I did) I don't want to take the blame for something that's not my fault. I think this is the major reasons people sometimes call me narcissist. Does these things really make me a narcissist? I'd be glad if an actual narcissist could give me an opinion. And any other opinions and questions are good.

Hello, Chameleon33. Narcissism has been and is the subject of much debate.
The articles that follow discuss the subject. There are many others. I really don't think I am. It's weird that people say that, but they probably don't know what they're talking about. I'm like the opposite of a narcissist according to most of the criteria. I don't think it's right to label someone just like that, but that seem to happen a lot.

If you drink a beer a day does this make you a drunk??? Being a narcissist and having NPD are two different things. Every person who roams this earth has narcissistic tendencies but in no way does this label them with a disorder. You should read a little more on what is written here before asking such a stupid question. You could of saved time by seeing for yourself that you more than likely are like all others who do not suffer with a disorder. Maybe if I called you a squirrel a few times you could go ask one if maybe your a squirrel!!!! Just erAsed closing statement as my NARCISSISM was way to strong there!! (Healing)

You know the whole point was actually asking a stupid question. People call me something which I'm 100% sure I'm not, which is stupid. So I actually do appreciate you telling me it's a stupid question. I know those things doesn't make me a narcissist and reading on this forum only made me even more sure I'm not, so why did I ask? Yes just because I wanted another opinion, I wanted to be told I'm not and that it's a stupid question. So without knowing it you gave me exactly the answer I wanted (or maybe you did know, I can't read minds)

I remember reading somewhere "that if you're wondering if you're a narcissist you probably aren't." I can't speak to the veracity of the words but my understanding is most people with NPD don't care if they are or not.
You say that you won't accept excuses from others "if someone bothers me, doesn't matter why you do it or if you claim to have a good reason for it or whatever, I don't care about your reasons" but then go on to say you should have the right to give your own "why would I do anything wrong and why can't I explain why I did (whatever I did)" That seems pretty self important (and lacking in the empathy department) to me. Does your being correct come above everything else? Are you willing to push the feelings of other people to the side as long as it means you being right? Like Underground said NPD is a spectrum just like the rest of the PD's maybe you've got traits but in the end the only people capable of diagnosing you are trained professionals. There isn't much point asking a bunch of people on the internet who don't know you. Last edited by Anonymous100154; Jun 17, 2014 at 12:25 AM. |

I really get what you're saying BeteNoire, and honestly, I agree. Do I have lack of empathy, yes sometimes but when I said bother what I really meant is that they have gone to far, you have to treat me or someone else really bad for me to hate you. I should have been more clear about what I meant, I admit. But when someone have gone too far, I have no empathy for that person. Does me being correct come above everything else? No, I don't care much about convincing other people that I'm correct, I want to say what what I feel is important, but what really matters is that I know the truth and I don't want to start a fight if someone disagree. But if they start a fight, then that's another thing. And you're very right about the last thing you said, but I just want to say that the point here wasn't to ask for a diagnose, and I can admit that it was wrong of me to not be more clear about what the point of the question was.

Good question. Myself always enjoyed treating situations such as people as if it really was a game of chess. Usually worked out very well. With that being said I try to distance myself from being involved as it's easier to not do this if I don't put myself in a situation. Great reference though!!!
