My Beloved Godmother is coming to town and staying with us for 4 days. She doesn't know about my extreme germ phobia and all the rules and rituals i have.
It is imperative that i tell her to stay out of the kitchen(i'll prepare all meals and snacks for her), otherwise she will touch stuff and contaminate my food and I won’t be able to eat.
I don’t know how to tell her without #1 looking like a freak and #2 hurting her feelings by essentially saying—you are dirty.
Any suggestions?

Tell her you suffer from a condition called OCD. Explain to her what it is, try to help her understand as much as she can, so she doesn't get the wrong end of the stick, and so maybe she could help you more with it. Try to remain calm throughout, as being calm does help. Remember; she's your godmother, and she'll love you either way, so don't be ashamed of sharing this with her, who knows? It may open a door for you...
Thanks for this!

I agree with Pup. I find it uncomfortable to tell some people about my OCD, but some people are understanding.

I told my Godmother and she has been very supportive and understanding and, so far, hasn't treated me any differently than ever before.

Thank you Pup, Alaskan and Maven!!
