Just a little rant

I don't have any problem with it on here, but it's really frustrating irl when I'm around people, especially those i know don't have OCD, and they go to fix something and make the statement "sorry, I'm just a little OCD." I just want to scream at them. They have no idea what it's like living with OCD. Everyone sometimes feels compelled to change something to how they normally like it. Just because someone likes the salt and pepper shakers in a certain spot ... you know... that just means your normal, not a little OCD. Living with OCD is hell, and I hate when people make light of it, or act like it's not a big deal, because for those of us living with it, it is a huge deal. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Does anyone else ever feel like this?

I guess I tend to make that comment when I always feel the need to have things even. Never realized that it bothers people.

It annoys me, too. Joy Behar on The View says she has, or Sherri Shepherd will say she has, OCD when it comes to her Blackberry. A normal person can be obsessive compulsive about some things, without having an obsessive compulsive disorder. There is a difference. It also annoys me when people say, "I am OCD," rather than, "I have OCD." I just think we shouldn't identify ourselves by our disorders, rather than saying they're one part of us.

Absolutely agree. I also hate when someone says to me, "wow she's so bipolar" about someone who is behaving odd. They always pick someone in the media whose psychotic and violent and then say it. Or they say, "don't be so bipolar." when you do something they don't want you to do. I have bipolar and OCD and hate both of those sayings.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
