I have unwelcome obsessive thoughts and they are strong as soon as I wake up. They then become weaker in the afternoon. Why is that?

I wished I really knew. I know I have to a control on my thoughts all night so I don't wake up going off. I listen to something positive all night to help me. I guess during the day you get busy and your mind doesn't have much time to think about it and by evening time, things are smoother.
