Lately I have been having thoughts about doing something a rational person would never do. I have posted a thread about an example of what I have been thinking about and someone said that I might have OCD. My thoughts are things like: "What if I could use this knife to murder someone?" or "What if I could turn he steering wheel while someone is driving?" Sometimes thee thoughts come with disturbing or mild images of what would happen, but most of the time there isn't. I am a bit worried and unsure of what to do to stop these thoughts. I have been blocking them out but they keep on coming back. Do I have OCD? Or is it just me?

I think the only way to get an accurate diagnosis is from your doctor. It could be OCD related. I think if you try to block them, it will only make them worse. It would be better to just let them come and don't let it bother you. They're only thoughts and you don't have to act on them. Try and take some slow deep breaths.

O its not you...lol I get those thoughts very often, although ofcourse i do not act on them. I've heard of other people who have had the same issues and was diagnosed with OCD. I have not though being as I will not share those thoughts with my psychiatrist. I hate them, they are torture, especially when its something you could not even bare to watch let alone do.

I actually had been having the same basic thoughts for quite a while, and recently mentioned it to my psych. That, along with other things I've noticed like little numerical obsessions and rituals, led us to the conclusion that I have OCD.
So, I'm no doctor, but I would say that it's possible you have OCD. My doc explained to me that often these thoughts are your subconscious mind trying to tell you something. Like, if your driving to work and you have thoughts of crashing the car, your mind may be trying to just say "Hey, I really don't want to go to work." I'm just starting to figure the whole OCD thing out, so yeah... wish I could help more. __________________ IDK WTF |
