Does anyone know anything about Obsessive thinking and fixed fantasies? I think this is what I do on a day to day basis. I live in a fantasy world inside my head...I have been doing this for several years and now I am trying to stop, but the thoughts are becoming more intrusive now...like my brain won't let them go...there are several different fantasies in my head..the main ones are based off public figures...I live my life through these people and other people....nothing I do is ever good enough...i am unhappy and feel as though my upbringing was not good enough compared to these people...i have very low self esteem...I have also been suicidal at times...i have friends and people who try to be my friends, but I do not want them...I like having friends, but I would prefer to be alone. I used to use the thoughts to keep from facing the real world...like stuff going on at home...there was a lot of crap going on....Now that I am trying to get rid of the thoughts I am very unhappy...the stuff I blocked out is coming back to me and I am having a hard time dealing with it...I have spent the last two days in near tears, because I can't quit thinking these thoughts...some one please help...

You aren't alone. I started my fantasy world when I was five. It was an escape from my real life. I could control everything that went on there when I had no control over my life. I needed an outlet from the things going on around me. In your fantasy world you protect yourself from hurt. In the real world people hurt you and you avoid people because you don't want to be hurt. I still struggle with it. I take medication for my ocd and get counseling. When things get rough, it is so easy to slip into my/your fantasy world where I/you feel secure.

![]() I am in the exact same boat as you, couldn't have put it better myself. I have no advice to offer you, I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. I hope you are receiving counselling for your concerns. Medication can be helpful as well. |

Annie, I had that for 20+ years. If you don't have a therapist, I suggest you find one as soon as possible; being locked inside your head won't help and can get much worse.
