My depression that accompanies my ocd feels different than my bipolar depression.
I don't know how to explain it, exactly. My affect is brighter with ocd depression. I don't feel as depressed, and yet when I fill out the depression quizes it says I am moderate to severely depressed. Can anyone who has both ocd and a mood disorder, like bipolar, relate?

Yes, I can definitely relate. I have both OCD and Bipolar 1 Disorder.
Perhaps the differences in depressions is because the depression in Bipolar is more extreme, definitely due to a chemical imbalance, and the depression that comes with OCD can be due to the difficulty of having that disorder? I started out as just having OCD & anxiety, and after having it for a while the depression came on because I kept thinking "My OCD will never get better"...very depressing. My psychiatrist told me it was very understandable that I felt depressed with having OCD. But with Bipolar Depression...it just happened. No reason. ![]() (((((Berries))))) ![]() |

I can relate on the bipolar depression aspect however i have not been able to determine the differences on the depressions i feel, i do know there is differences in the way my depression effects me during different times.
Although i am not sure if any of this is Depression brought on by the Ocd that may be mixed in there as well as the only real thing i can notice with the OCD is often a sense of need to fulfill the rituals and Anxiety or frustration if not done properly or not able to do them at that time. |
