I'm always stressed out. And a few months ago i started to realize that in stressful situations, i pull out my eyelashes. I dont know why but it just, feels good? I even do it when im not stressed. Idk. Now i realize instead of just my eyelashes, i pullout my eyebrows. I dont know if this could be trichotillomania? I also bite my nails and pick at my skin, if that has anything to do with it. Im not even sure, but i heard about it and im wondering if i could have this.?

Oh boy, I am trying to reply again, I spent a lot of time trying to reply and it didn't go thru.
Relax, I used to twittle my hair and bite my nails. It was my brain's way of trying to sooth the stress that I was feeling. The next time you are in a classroom or public place look around at the other people in the room. Look at what their bodies are doing. Some of them twitch their foot or shake their foot back and forth, some of them make their knees weave in and out, some of them take their pencil and shake it back and forth and look at the pens and pencils they have in their hands, many of them are chewed or bent. Some peope pull on their noses or hold their chins. Look at the hands of other people you may see bitten nails or knawed on fingers. Everyone has something that they do when they are stressed. All these things are ways in which our brains try to find a self soothing way of controling stress. ![]() |

This sounds like it's reached more than a nervous habit since you say it feels good. Most people don't pull out their eyelashes or eyebrows(grooming exception). If you have trouble comtrolling it, this could be Trichotillomania. Skin picking and biting nails are in the same sub group. Better to find a positive habit. Many people may have some of these habits and never becomes a real problem. The key here is, can you control the habit and is it becoming a problem?

It's good you're aware of it, so you can stop the urge. Find another distraction for your hands. Best of luck

I excessively rub my eyebrows to the point where I get irritation, and scabbing on them. I do it when im nervous which is often and it calms me down. I can't stop doing it and am many times unaware that I am until it begins to hurt.

I used to pull out the hairs of my eyebrows and eyelashes. It felt good like you said then I lined the hairs up on the frame of the mirror.
The problem is that I have no eyebrows left. If you pull out the follicule enough times, it doesn't grow back or it is a very, very fine pale hair. Once the hairs are gone, you cannot bring them back. I had eyebrows tatooed on because the makeup always came off on the pillow and anyone sleeping over would see that I looked weird. when I finally stopped pulling them out, I started overeating. this is more or less under control now but I have issues with panic |
