Hello all. I'm completely new here. I've never even considered looking for support online but at this point I have nowhere left to turn. I've dealt with obsessions and compulsions for over 20 years now. Mostly obsessions... Right now, things are better than they've been in a really long time but I'm terrified that my obsessions are going to come back, in the same form or another. Is that what my new obsession is??? I can't stop thinking about it and I'm doing everything I can to avoid it... Hmm.... I was going to ask for advice on keeping that from happening but I think now I need help getting past this one. I'm just alone and scared and no one in my life understands. Most of them say "just get over it" but as I'm sure you all know, that's impossible. I know you probably can't fix me and I don't expect you to, just to know I'm not alone..........

Hello there! I'm also new to the site :3 I went directly to the OCD section since I myself suffer from OCD. I have a lot of obsessions myself (that I am still currently dealing with). I will say this, by what your saying it seems like you have gotten over most of yours, correct? The only real problem is the fear of them returning? If that's the case then think of it this way: It's better than an actual obsession. One being obsessing over something major or doing compulsions in response. Think of it as, 'It's better than what it was, and if this is the only thing I'm obsessing over, then I will take that as a win!' Sure, your still obsessing over something, but it's not a specific subject; just fear of what it could be.

I know the response, 'Just get over it.' never helps; believe me, I know lol xD In your situation, I would take the fear of what could be my next obsession as a win for the moment. Your not stressing over something specific, so if anything just take it as a vacation from OCD (hopefully a permanent vacation, but we all know how OCD can be a pain lol). I hope this helped you even if only a little. I know how stressful OCD can be so your definitely not alone

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
