My psych seems to think bipolar is more important to treat than my OCD, regardless if it causes my pulling to flair. I am taking abilify and I pull so much more than normal.

Anyone with success stories on meds to treat other issues that helped with trich?

I've never tried Abilify, but from what I understand it's an activating drug that can exacerbate anxiety disorders in susceptible individuals. If I were you, I would tell my doc that any drug that increases OCD symptoms is unacceptable and that I'd like to explore other, non-activating options. There's a range of mood stabilizing drugs you can try.

As far as drugs that treat OCD *and* act as mood stabilizers, APs are the only class I'm aware of. High dose SSRIs are multitaskers in that they treat OCD and depression - you would need to add a mood stabilizer, of course.

I hope someone else can offer more assistance.

Good luck!
