So my OCD is primarily obsessional and is entirely focused on the safety of my family members. I worry a lot about my sister being raped, for example, and have to repeat things in my head or touch things so that I feel that I am preventing it from happen. I also do this kind of thing like bargaining, where I notice myself enjoying something and then promise never to do it again if it will prevent something bad from happening. I’m on Prozac and it has lessened my obsessions and compulsions a lot, but I was just curious if anyone else has this kind of OCD. How do you manage it and/or find ways to relax? I’m also curious about people’s experiences with CBT; it hasn’t really worked for me.

Hello kfalt: I believe this is actually your second post here on PC. But I thought I would still say... welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

I can't really offer anything myself with regard to your concerns. However, here are links to some articles from PsychCentral's archives that may be of some interest:

May I suggest you introduce yourself over on PC's New Member Introductions forum? Here's a link:

There's a lot of support that can be available here on PC. The more you post, & reply to other members' posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are the chat rooms where you'll be able to interact with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) So please keep posting!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
