I can not stop my brain from constantly running. I'm sure the only reason I can sleep is because i'm physically exhausted. I even have extremely detailed dreams I can completely remember the next day. I have tried imagining black space, stars, but can only get my thoughts to calm for a few seconds and their back on the race. I'm not add. So, what is a good way to shut down?

Maybe listen to classical music or read a dictionary? Never worked for me but maybe it'll work for you.

Writing your thoughts in a journal can help. When my mind is full of thoughts at night, I write to clear my head.

you said "race", but it is unclear whether you have a flow of rapid, but consecutively running thoughts, or, are experiencing several thoughts running in parallel. If the latter, then, possibly, it may be a symptom of bipolar - I read through such descriptions of "racing thoughts" on the BP forum. Also, the term itself - "racing thoughts" - is mostly used to describe bipolar, and NOT ADD.
