Sometimes I pull out my hair on my head. One time I completely pulled out all my eyebrows and eyelashes. I can't help it. Eyelashes are so nice to rip out.
I eat my arm hair. I just put my arm up to my face and just gnaw at my hair and rip out and eat the hair. Sometimes I even go after my toe hair... Apparently when I was a kid I would pull out my eyelashes. I have no memory of this. I just can't help it. And I wanted to share. |

i'm a puller.
i pull mainly from my eyebrows, eyelashes and private area (yeah, i know)...but also do arms and legs every once in a while. i dont eat the hair, but i have to sort of examine it...sometimes run it across my skin or play with it. then i get rid of it after ive had my "fill" - ive pulled so much that ive left myself in pain in the areas ive pulled. i dont even bother ever getting my eyebrows done because i'm just gonna pull them out. why waste the money on a salon...or the money on the tools and the time to do it myself, even? i get REALLY tense if i'm pulling at a hair and it wont come out. that just angers the heck out of me. and then relief when i finally get it out. especially if the white bulb comes out with it. ive been doing this since i was about 14...but oddly, when i was a bit younger, i would use scissors and i'd like cut hair's off of my arms and legs. i'd lay on my bed, with scissors (just regular, children's school scissors) and i'd just examine the hair on my body and cut cut cut it off. i'd be sitting there for the longest time just doing that. later, i dropped the scissors and just started using my fingers to do it. i still cant wrap my head around why i do it. my head hair is different, though. i dont really pull that hair out. i do tend to tug on it, but i very rarely pull hair's OUT of my scalp. i actually have a bit of a hair obsession...so i'm really into hair care. |

You're not alone! I pull my eyelashes/eyebrows out and have done so since I was 7 (the same time I was diagnosed with OCD). For me it is more of a compulsion to feel "right". If an eyelash feels "wrong" I want it off of me. Same goes for eyebrows.

a lot of the time i'll just start pulling...but if i'm in the bathroom/looking in a mirror somewhere and i notice a hair sticking out or not going in the same direction as the other hairs, i'll just start pulling at it until it comes out...and it HAS to come out. brows, lashes, wherever.

have you tried medications? I pull hair and it's annoying but I only do it when I am alone. I am too embarrassed to do it in front of others.

I'm on an antidepressant and it helps somewhat. Sometimes I just can't get it out of my head.
