I am just wondering if reading a book can help with Intrusive thoughts/ paranoia or psychosis from both of those. I have been having a lot of issues with those 3 and nothing is helping and I have to wait until the 4th and 9th for therapy then med doc appointments and I was told Reading can help. is that true?

Hi sunvoidant. It's nice to meet you. I think it's great that you are trying to stay positive. My pdoc told me not to read fiction, because it may induce psychosis. I mostly read non fiction any way. I think all reading is constructive. It keeps the brain sharp.

Hi, I find reading does help me. Personally I enjoy historical narratives or accounts. Anyways, I wish you the best.

Don't get me wrong, reading is a great activity for your mind. However, if you use it as an escape, it really qualifies as a compulsion. You will have to be honest with yourself as to what is driving you to read. Avoiding thoughts that distress you will only make you sicker in the long run.
Thanks for this!
